Huawei unified edge gateway (UEG) is a mandatory component deployed at the network edge for the multi-access edge computing (MEC) solution. It functions as a user plane function (UPF) or an uplink classifier (UL CL) UPF on the 5GC, and also routes and exchanges data between UEs and apps by providing the app service governance and application programming interface gateway (API GW) functions.
