SmartAX MA5631, MA5632, and MA5633 are Optical Network Units
(ONUs) designed for bidirectional network restructuring in the
Broadcast and Television industry, integrating voice, data, and
video services.
MA5631 and MA5632, Ethernet over Coax (EoC) devices, enable PON +
EoC restructuring. MA5633 is a Distributed Cable Modem Termination
System (D-CMTS) device with PON + D-CMTS restructuring, improves
CMTS bandwidth up to four times higher than traditional solutions.
The SmartAX MA5633 is mainly used in a passive optical network (PON)
+ Distribution-CCAP (D-CCAP) network for MSOs, which is connected to
the coaxial cable distribution network using an RF port in the
upstream direction and connected to an OLT using a PON port in the
upstream direction. Such a networking mode supports 1000 Mbit/s
access to a building and 100 Mbit/s access to a user's home.
Therefore, the network can provide integrated services, including
video and voice services that require high bandwidth. The network
supports traditional access for home users, as well as new services
such as enterprise VPN access and backhaul in hot spots, thereby
satisfying the various scenario requirements of MSOs.
MA563x Series deploy in the central office, leverage existing HFC
networks, support voice, IPTV, and VIP private line services.
• High bandwidth and multi-service: The MA5633 supports: service access to buildings at a rate of 1000 Mbit/s and to user homes at a rate of 100 Mbit/s; a maximum of 16 downstream channels and a maximum of 4 upstream channels. It fully supports PacketCable standards, and provides various services, such as CATV, HSI, VoD, Layer 2 virtual private network (L2VPN), enterprise access, and Wi-Fi hotspot coverage.
• Compatible with hybrid fiber coaxial (HFC) live networks: The MA5633 is compatible with cable modems (CMs) and operations support systems (OSSs) on live networks. The MA5633 built-in power amplifier reduces device insertion loss without changing the existing HFC network architecture.
• Centralized management: The MA5633 supports centralized management. Under centralized management, CMCs are managed as OLT PON ports instead of independent NEs, thereby reducing network maintenance operating expense (OPEX).
• High integration: The MA5633 integrates the ONU, CMTS processing module, amplifier, combiner, and optical receiver, simplifying network deployment and maintenance.
• Platform-sharing with FTTx: The D-CCAP platform, architecture, and NMS can be shared by FTTx, which allows MSOs to smoothly upgrade their networks to support FTTH and provide multiple access modes.
